The Domino Effect + Time

The Domino Effect + Time

May 06, 2024

Running late and mentally frantic - I ended up taking the wrong bus taking me in the opposite direction. My thought process was to take another way, yet I abandoned that idea since I'm traveling within a new city.

Was I really running late? Or, was it suppose to be this way.

Surely, one would say what already happened was suppose to happen. I transferred to the bus I should've took originally. Along the way a young man, about 25 years old, came on the bus. He sat closer to the front. Eventually, he ended up walking to the middle of the bus barely keeping his balance. He was coherent and holding onto the bar. My stop came and I had to pass him. I came off the bus and I heard the bus driver say "Ok, you get off now."

The bus driver put the bus in park and was stopped for a while. I crossed the street to my stop. The bus sped off after about 5 mins with the young man in the white shirt standing on the corner. The young man ended up walking into the middle of the street and basically blocking traffic. Ironically, I missed my bus. However, I had feeling to help the young man over to the sidewalk. He slowly asked me to call him a taxi as his head occasionally whipped back and teeth would clinch, yet soft spoken. He told me the number "8 .. 2........5........ 4....... 5.........4.......5". I asked, "but what's the area code 7 8 0?" He replied "yes".

I dialed the number and to my surprise it was the taxi's phone number. I told the taxi the situation and they said taxi will be there in 5 mins. This indicated to me the young man had his senses in complete order. The taxi didn't come. I kept missing busses. I started getting frustrated. He looked at me and said "I just want to go home." That provided a perfect peace within my spirit. I replied "I understand."
As I understand that feeling all too well. I suggested "You're going to have to get back on the bus". He nodded and said "It... Comes... Often."

We started to cross the road. He ended up stuck in the middle of the road stopping the traffic as his bus was coming. I pleaded with him to come off the road. He said "I need help." I took him by the arm to assist him across the street and onto the bus. The bus driver looked and said he didn't want to deal with him. I pleaded with the driver explaining he gave me the taxi number meaning he understood and we needed to have patience with the young man. The driver further said "He needs medical attention." I looked bewildered and replied "medical attention?"

The driver said yes, 'look at him'. "I don't know," was my answer. "We can't Stay Here All Day!" Someone yelled from the back. I replied "I know, you're right! Sorry!"

The driver allowed me to sit my new friend down. However, he was near to the edge of the seat and I couldn't leave him like that. I went back and tried to prop him up as best as possible. Than driver stated "Someone needs to stay with him. Are you going to stay with him?" I quickly explained my situation and the bus driver said "I will phone for medical attention." I didn't answer, thanked the driver allowing the young man a ride to the end of the route.

I phoned the taxi again and they actually came and took the taxi to my destination and made it at the exact time I was suppose too.

How easy is it to bypass someone or a situation as long as it doesn't have to do with the person. The Out of Sight - Out of Mind Mind Theory. Yet, how is another effected by others nonchalant choices. The effect upon another due to decision making of a person. Since the young man wasn't hurting anyone or creating any scene - He should've been able to stay on the 1st bus to the destination. That driver just wanted to get my friend off the bus not realizing my friend could've been hit by a car. We can't trust 'medical attention' because they prey on the weak. I had to say a prayer after to ensure his safety. However, I should be mindful to conduct prayer on the spot.

I should've been able to take a taxi with him to his house, drop him off and than go along my way.
